Duncan Goodhew Previews the European Swimming Championships
Following a record 19-medal haul by the GB Athletics team on the track in Barcelona last week, all eyes are now turning towards the pool – with the European Swimming Championships getting under way this week in Budapest.
The British Gas Swimming team is aiming for a strong performance at this year’s Championships, with medal contenders including double Olympic champion Rebecca Adlington, world champions Gemma Spofforth and Liam Tancock, and European Short Course Champion Hannah Miley.
THE THREE MONTH ROAD TO DEHLI
The European Championships will be the first of two big international competitions this year, for Britain’s elite swimmers. Adlington and her teammates already have one eye on the Commonwealth Games in October, and are hoping Budapest will mark the beginning of a successful three month stretch.
