The Best of British Diving Battle For Smooth Entry Into Commonwealth & European Teams

Sheffield - Sunday 27th June 2010: The best of British diving took to the platform in Sheffield for the British Gas National Diving Championships.

The biggest event of the year in the British diving calendar, divers battled it out not just for a national title, but also for the chance to represent their country at the European Championships and Commonwealth Games later this year – as the event also formed a major part of qualification for the Commonwealth and European teams.

With the shock absence of Tom Daley from this meet due to injury, the Championships offered a major opportunity for both experienced and up-and-coming British divers to gain national recognition amongst their peers.

Olympian Nick Robinson-Baker was the standout performer at the Championships, taking home three gold medals. The event also saw outstanding performances by 13 year old youngster Alicia Blagg who took the 1 metre title, and 10 metre Synchro winners Sarah Barrow and Tonya Couch.
